FAQ
Questions workshops ask
Do I need to install anything?
No. JobCardGenie runs in your web browser on a PC, laptop, tablet or phone. Sign in and start working.
Can I keep using my own job card layout and wording?
Yes. You choose your job statuses, the types of units you work on, your sign-off stages, and any extra fields you need, such as registration or pump numbers. The wording on the job card is yours too.
Can I bring my existing price list?
Yes. Import your parts and labour from an Excel or CSV file, and export it again whenever you like.
Does it do proper tax invoices?
Yes. When your company has a VAT number, invoices print as tax invoices with VAT, numbered in sequence without gaps. Your customer's VAT number, order number and reference can be shown too.
What about parts we don't charge for?
Add them under "Uninvoiced parts". They stay on the job card and in your parts figures, but never on the invoice.
Can my staff use it without seeing the money side?
Yes. For each person you choose whether they may create job cards, view invoices, or create invoices.
Is my information kept private?
Each workshop's information is kept completely separate. Only your own users can see it, and every change is recorded in a history you can check.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Register your workshop and use every feature free during the trial. No bank card is needed to start; billing only begins after the trial, on the plan you choose.
Can my customers approve quotes and pay online?
Yes. Customers get a private link by email, SMS or WhatsApp to approve or decline a quote. If you link your PayFast account, every emailed invoice gets a "Pay now" button for card or Instant EFT, and paid invoices are marked paid automatically.
What if we send more SMS than our plan includes?
They still go out. Each plan with SMS includes a number of messages a month, and any extra are added to your next invoice at a small fixed price each. You can see how many you've sent this month on your billing page.
Can we pay yearly?
Yes. Choose yearly on your billing page and you get one invoice for 12 months at a discount. You can switch back to monthly when the year is up.
Does it work with my accounting package?
Yes. Export your invoices and credit notes for Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage or Excel, ready for your bookkeeper.
Can I use it on my phone in the workshop?
Yes. It works in the browser on any phone or tablet, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. Take photos, scan a job's QR label, start a timer or get the customer's signature right there.
